The investigation was carried out using the activated charcoal technique. The average radon concentration measurement in the cave environment was 191.73 ± 13.39 Bq/m3 . Laboratory measurements of specific activities of U-238, Th-232 and K-40 radionuclei for some samples collected from the cave were carried out using hyper-pure germanium (HPGe) detector. The average values of specific activities of U-238, Th-232 and K-40 were 13.21 ± 2.32, 13.56 ± 2.83 and 1014.58 ± 412.66 Bq/kg , respectively, for the cave constituents. Also, the radium equivalent activity (Raeq), external hazard (Hex), dose rate and annual gonadal dose equivalent (AGDE for workers and visitors of the cave) were also calculated and compared to the international recommended values. |
